• Preservatives are used at the minimum to accomplish optimum freshness, safety and utility.
• Intelligent, responsible raw material choices are renewable when possible, often based in olive, coconut, corn or soy ingredients.
• They occasionally choose not to use a plant-derived material for efficacy, consistency and safety.

Toxicity

Safety is a continual process. They methodically assess each ingredient for health and safety, alone and again in the final product formulation. They use verified laboratory tests and do not test on animals.

Because Caldrea does not test on animals, they cannot make the legal labeling claim of non-toxic. The FDA currently requires animal testing to support that claim. They are investigating in-vitro (test tube) methodologies that, in the future, may be able to support their non-toxic formulation process. Today, a toxicologist reviews all Caldrea formulations against a mathematical, theoretical model for safety assessment.

Their products are free of ammonia, chlorine, glycol solvents, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, artificial colorants, phosphates or petroleum distillates.

Caldrea does not test their products on animals, nor are their products made with animal-derived ingredients. Caldrea is a member of the Leaping Bunny Program, an internationally recognized campaign in North America and the European Union to eliminate cosmetics, personal care and household product testing on animals.

They manufacture according to exacting standards in a cosmetic-grade cGMP facility. cGMP is an abbreviation for the term "current Good Manufacturing Practice", which refers to FDA regulations regarding the manufacturing, testing, and quality control of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.

All suppliers of Caldrea's ingredients derived from Palm Oil are members of RSPO (Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil). Caldrea supports sustainable practices of eco-sensitive areas throughout Asia, Africa and South America, like the Brazilian rain forests.
